New way of life
Scientists at the University of Regensburg, Germany, found an interesting microbe in the ocean floor in a volcanic region north of Iceland. Its habitat is restricted to hot water, free of oxygen and rich in sulfur, observed the German magazine Der Spiegel. The name of the bacterium, Nanoarchaeum equitans, or primitive dwarf mounted, is due to the fact that she lives on the outside of a much larger body called Ignicoccus, or fireball, which seems to depend to multiply. These microbes, with a diameter of 400 nanometers, are so small that the second article "would fit more than six million of them on the tip of a needle." It's the only life form with DNA containing less than 500,000 base pairs. "Thus, the dwarf is the primitive creature with the smallest genome that are known", the paper
